In early 2014 Double Impact, a Nottingham based Drug & Alcohol Recovery Charity opened Nottingham's 1st alcohol free bar. The alternative bar venue named “Sobar” is located on Friar Lane in Nottingham city centre. By day it’s a vibrant welcoming café bar that offers superb food and an extensive range of quality non-alcoholic drinks. By night it transforms into an alternative space for events and functions.
On Saturday 16th from 4pm through to 7pm on the Sunday the 17th of August, Sobar will host Nottingham’s first Alcohol free music festival. 12 bands and solo musicians will perform over the two days. The line-up includes: - Chloe Charlemange, Oscar Speed, Jiallo, Matt Henshaw and more..!!! The festival will have an eclectic range of musical genres, from indie, blues, jazz, R & B, acoustic folk all the way to a stunning Opera performance and a Northern Soul DJ. The initial concept of Sobar came from the service users of Double Impact who found that one of the barriers to their recovery was social isolation and the lack of alcohol free venues particularly on evenings and weekends. The bar is set up as a community interest company so all the profits made go directly back into Double Impact the charity to help fund the services needed to support those in recovery from addiction.
Sobar is also developing a training and volunteering program to provide opportunities for people in recovery to gain valuable experience in the hospitality sector.

It will be a great showcase of some of Nottingham’s music talent and all done in the superb setting of the alcohol free “Sobar”. These types of events are really important, it highlights that you can go out and have a great time without alcohol, promotes visible recovery in our community and helps tackle anti-stigma.”
