The Arnold Carnival 2011
Arnot Hill Park, Arnold, Nottingham. FREE EVENT
Saturday 18th June 12.00 mid day – 10.30pm
Sunday 19th June 11.00am – 10.00pm
There will be Big stage entertainment from local and professional entertainers over the weekend.
Nottingham County Council’s Youth Service will host the first two hours of the big stage entertainment showcasing local young talent. A full programme will be available nearer the time.
Saturday has a 60s feel with The Kinx Tribute Band and 60s legends The Foundations featuring original lead singer Clem Curtis with hits such as “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You” and “Build Me Up Buttercup” guaranteed to get you up on your feet dancing the night away.
The Bogus Brothers party band will close the show on Sunday night having been regular Carnival favourites for the past few years, a real crowd pleaser.
Sunday’s Fun Dog Show starts at 1.30pm with the first class and registration commencing at 11.30am. This year there are 6 classes as follows:
Most Handsome Dog – Waggiest Tail – Most Appealing Eyes – Prettiest Bitch – Best Rescue Dog – Best Condition
If you would like to complete the registration form beforehand, please download the details here. Please note that class sizes are limited and a place is only guaranteed when the registration process has been completed on the day. Unfortunately, we cannot take registration slips before the Carnival. All proceeds will go to the Mayor of Gedling’s chosen Charity based in the Gedling area.
Sunday afternoon also sees the Arnold Churches Together Sunday afternoon service with a traditional Songs of Praise style service.

Skateboarding and BMX have a go sessions plus display by local boarders and bikers in and around the bowl
Various taster sports sessions, including football, childrens rowing competition, basketball and army climbing wall
Community information stands with a real Fire Engine and Police Car
Free entertainment on both days for all the family - Bring a blanket, relax and let us entertain you!
Please note - Limited on-site parking and strictly no glass bottles or cycles allowed on site. Cycles can be left at owners risk near the entrances, but Gedling Borough Council will not accept any responsibility for any left there.
Please note, this event is not classed as a “no alcohol” event, but visitors are requested to adopt a “respect the park and the surrounding neighbours” attitude and adhere to sensible drinking. Anyone attempting to enter the park with excessive amounts of alcohol will be asked to deposit these within a designated area for collection later when leaving the event. Visitors gaining access to the site will be asked to leave if they object to this request.
Applications to perform on stage at this year’s Carnival closed on the 18th February 2011. A full stage line up will be available to download mid March. If you would like to be considered for future Carnivals, please provide performance details (cd/dvd/ contact info etc) to Events & Play Officer, Leisure Services, Gedling Borough Council, Civic Centre, Arnot Hill Park, Arnold, Nottingham, NG5 6LU no earlier than January. Please note we cannot access You-Tube or My-Space.
If you would like an application form for a Charity Stall, you must be a registered Charity and be able to provide your Charity Number. To apply for a craft stall, all goods must be made by yourself and not “bought in” and the organiser reserves the right to restrict categories to ensure a wide selection of quality goods.
