Acoustic | Contemporary Folk/Country
Just 18 months into their collaboration as Blackheart, Welsh singer Chrissy Mostyn and guitarist Rick Pilkington have become established for both their live concerts and their outstanding debut album ‘Indigo’
“Blackheart are taking the acoustic scene by storm” BBC Radio
They spent their first year touring the UK with over 170 concerts playing with some great British and American artists from Martin and Eliza Carthy and The Strawbs to Brian Kennedy and Steve Forbert to Eve Selis and Lucy Kaplansky whilst their album has won wide industry applause from both sides of the Atlantic. 2008 sees them headlining their own tour across the UK, Ireland and the USA.
“Beautiful music” Maverick Magazine
Their songwriting defies category but blends folk, country and even rock influences to create a unique style of beautifully crafted, instantly memorable songs which are earning them huge airplay in both the UK and the US. Their highly personal songs paint pictures of their lives with subjects such as hometowns, marriage, faith, redundancy, bereavement and even suicide all being treated with the sensitive, intellectual lyrical observation that has become the trademark of their work.
“This band is going to be massive” Glastonbury Radio
Their live shows combine their sublime harmonies and acoustic guitar playing with highly entertaining audience interaction as they tell the stories behind their songs. It is also indicative of their rising status as songwriters that their track ‘Unlike Water’ was chosen as the soundtrack to one of the biggest TV commercials of 2007 remaining on prime time television for over six months.
“Blackheart do not sound like anyone else, Rather they remind us why music lifts us up” Dalton Delan - American Public Television
Plans for 2008 include new album ‘Stories’ released in June plus a live album and DVD, a 100 date UK tour, a two week tour of the U.S. in September and a three week tour of Ireland in July/August where they have been invited to share the stage with Nanci Griffith, Ricky Scaggs and George Jones.
