Mimm and Local Motive are bringing esteemed Grammy-nominated composer, world-class DJ and electronic music icon Carl Craig to Nottingham’s Irish Centre on Friday 30th October a night not to be missed!
Carl Craig released his first track in 1989 on a Virgin UK compilation album; two singles followed on the labels run by his first collaborator, Derrick May. After a series of ambitious releases for his co-owned retroactive imprint, in 1991 Craig launched his record label Planet E, with the ground-breaking EP ‘4Jazz Funk Classics’ under his alias 69. Plant E turned 20 in 2011 and Craig celebrated the label’s history by taking Planet-E and its artists and collaborators on a world tour for the first time ever.
In 2013, he released a 3-CD album on Ministry of Sound, entitled ‘Masterpiece’. The album includes one disc of music Carl was inspired by, one disc of current selections and one special disc of new music, entitled ‘Meditation’, a modular jam of Moroderesque compositions, inspired by David Lynch’s meditation techniques (Lynch, a great advocator of Transcendental Meditation), and an electronic tribute to his beloved city of Detroit.
In 2014, Carl Craig began a new concept ‘Detroit Love’ designed to bring together and support the sounds of Detroit and take a little of the techno to clubs and festivals across the globe. ‘, Detroit Love was launched at ADE 2014, in the underground recesses of Amsterdam’s North Sea Jazz Club. Craig invited Reclosse and Moodymann – who played a set encompassing disco, soul, house and hip-hop, and Mad Mike Banks to play keys over Carl Craig’s Moof infused 4-cd-deck closing set, which included live editing, sampling, scratching and looping.
Tickets for Carl Craig go on sale to Local Motive and Mimm past bookers and members before anyone else ensuring you secure your tickets for this anticipated sell out event as well as the chance to buy one of out limited available early bird tickets starting from £10. Pre-sale to members starts at 10am on Thursday 13th August 2015 priced at limited amounts of £10, £15 and £17.50 early bird tickets and standard £20 tickets (plus booking fee). These tickets can only be purchased online via an exclusive link, which will be sent out to all members on Thursday.
