Carl Froch (born 2 July 1977, Nottingham) is an English super-middleweight boxer rated as a contender.

Background
He is unbeaten in 22 professional fights, winning all but 4 of his fights by knockout, earning himself the nickname "The Cobra." He is 6'1". He is the reigning British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion. He was rated the number 1 challenger at super-middleweight by the WBC but was recently demoted to second despite not losing a fight. [1]
Froch began boxing at home at 9 years old. He later joined the Phoenix ABC in Gedling, Nottingham. He was very successful as an amateur, winning two ABA middleweight titles in 1999 and 2001, and a World Amateur Boxing Championships bronze in 2001 before turning pro and having his first pro fight in March 2002. 2004 he won the vacant British Championship and defended it in the next years among others against Brian Magee and former British champion Tony Dodson. In doing so he won a Lonsdale Belt outright, fulfilling an often stated ambition of his. The fight had previously been postponed several times.
On the 9 November 2007 he stopped veteran ex world champion Robin Reid in a bout many saw as another step up in class.
He is trained by Robert McCracken and managed by Mick Hennessy.
He is a keen supporter of Nottingham Forest and has a home games season ticket, therefore, making him a popular figure amongst Forest fans.
