4 piece rock n pop covers band
Gig Review of Copperhead at the Noels Arms, Melton Mowbray.
Firstly, I have been lucky enough to see this band on 2 or 3 other occasions in Melton before, so I'm used to the loud noise and sweaty atmosphere that these guys generate!! Copperhead started off as a 5 piece heavy rock outfit but now comprise Simon on Vocals, Martyn on Lead Guitar, Eddie on Bass & Craig on Drums. As a 4 piece I think their sound is tighter & better than ever before!
As soon as Copperhead take to the stage and break into their set, you know you're going to have a great time!! They're full of confidence & it oozes out all over the place:
Simon up front on vocals is great with his 'witty' comments and he keeps your attention throughout!
Martyn is no novice - he's played the lead guitar before, and goes about the neck of the guitar like he was pulling apples off a tree!!
I must mention the Rhythm section of Copperhead, because so often, the bassist & drummer get forgotten!
Eddie comes across a little bit shy & quiet, but boy can he play! He doesn't shout out 'Look at me playing the bass', he just gets on with it & plays it bloody well.
Craig on drums is also awesome - he's like your heart - never misses a beat!
Craig & Eddie are the quiet ones. They keep everything in order & at the correct speed, whilst Simon & Martyn really entertain the fans 'up the front of the stage'!!
So, so important about this band - they bloody enjoy themselves & what they do - too many live 'covers' bands take it too seriously & never look at their audience - Copperhead want you to be involved & to enjoy yourself!
It works really well & Copperhead REALLY DO ROCK!! They pound through classics like Judas Priest’s 'Breaking The Law' & 'Livin' After Midnight', Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust', classics by B.Sabbath (you can guest which one!) & they did a great version of 'War Pigs' as well as classics by Free, Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, Nirvana, Guns ‘n Roses, & so on.
Copperhead are brilliant at covering AC/DC - 'Shook Me All Night long', 'Whole Lotta Rosie' & 'Back in Black'....sounds just like the real band!!
For those of you too young to remember most of the bands already mentioned, Copperhead do a stomping version of the Killers 'All These Things' and ‘Basket Case’ by Greenday!! Whether you're 18 & spotty faced, fat & 40 or flirty & 50, DON'T YOU DARE MISS COPPERHEAD next time they're in a pub near you!! It will be one hell of a good rockin' night.
Gig review from Amy Parker
Copperhead at The Golden Fleece
Copperhead at The Golden Fleece, Stamford, 16th May 2009.
Tonight holds a laid back atmosphere, here in one of Stamford's well-known locals.
The Golden Fleece tonight hosts Rock n' Roll cover band Copperhead.
Four guys with love for simply playing.
There appears to be no pressure, there's plenty
of band mate to band mate and band to crowd banter, all of which eases all present into some classic rock songs suitably performed with a frontman who shows signs of possessing a classic rock voice.
Playing everything from Led Zeppelin to Green Day, from Metallica to The Killers, the band showcase tight musicianship and well rehearsed recitals of such classics.
Copperhead's playing only enhances the relaxed and chilled out mood.
These are four guys who obviously don't take themselves too seriously.
This is refreshing in a modern music industry being tarnished with big egos and everybody forgetting about the actual music in order to make sure as much money as possible is being made.
Having fun is the main objective of Copperhead and they do it very well whilst bringing the crowd along with them.
This combined with some great covers of some great songs equals a great night out.
