Some Details...

Off the back of a busy summer of festivals, sold-out shows and excursions into Europe, Ferocious Dog are hitting the road with a run of intimate 3-piece shows. Bringing deeply personal lyrics, infused with folk, rock, reggae and Celtic vibrations to the masses, Ken Bonsall, Dan Booth and John Leonard will be whipping up a musical maelstrom in a slightly more personal setting than their recent sold-out shows or main-stage festival slots have allowed. It is certainly not a show to be missed!

“Ferocious Dog are the new noise on the block – and are surprising everyone with their rapid ascent. There is no way they’re following any hipster templates – fronted by a big burly man with a mohican who sings impassioned political songs of broken Britain whilst his band seethes like a punky Levellers – they are the music business’s worst nightmare – a great band who are going to make it without anyone’s permission”. (John Robb, Louder Than War, Glastonbury, 5th July 2016).

The songs on the acoustic set, are the same songs played by the full band, but in stripped down versions so you can hear the violin and lyrics more clearly. This is the way the songs were written, round the kitchen table, Dan and Ken working out lyrics, guitar and violin parts.

The songs are deeply personal and their fans can really identify with the words. Dan Booth, on fiddle, and John Leonard playing just about verything with strings. Singer, Ken Bonsall’s lyrics and sheer likability make the delivery of the songs both powerful and moving.
ABOUT THE LEE BONSALL MEMORIAL FUND

Lee Bonsall, who was the son of the Mohican bearing frontman, Ken Bonsall and the brother of violinist, Daniel Booth, committed suicide after struggling with PTSD after serving in Afghanistan in 2012.

The Lee Bonsall Memorial Fund was set up in his name. Ken and his wife Karen, set up and served at soup kitchens and food banks, and found that a lot of veterans lived on the streets.

Ferocious Dog, who have a big following of family and fans (Hell Hounds), was a suitable platform to reach a wider audience, they asked that any donations that could help, (food, clothes, etc.) be brought along to the gigs, it was named “Food Drop”. The donations were given to homeless charities in Derby, Nottingham and Mansfield, Framework in Nottingham being one.
“After going to watch ‘I Daniel Blake’, which is a realistic depiction of life on benefits, it really pushed me on, (said Ken). I felt that we are missing a trick here, and we decided to start in Glasgow, which is a deprived city, really struggling. We had a brilliant response. I phoned up homeless charities and food banks and they came to take the food away”.
Since then, all the gigs are part of the food drop, suggested donations are blankets, clothing, toiletries and canned food.
