Some Details...

FINAL CUT are the biggest rock covers band you’ve never heard, except for our drummer, as he’s quite small!
From beer soaked beginnings, Final Cut was formed in 2009 when Sandy (drums) and Big Jim (vocals) decided to form a rock covers band. Drawing on their eclectic past they drew up a tantalizing selection of rock classics spanning the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s including the likes of Pink Floyd, Steppen Wolf, Cream and Guns ‘n’ Roses. After cutting their teeth in 2010 at local outdoor events such as the Barton and Spondon Festivals they managed to secure repeat performances and are returning to headline the Spondon Festival in 2011!

With a revamped and re-invigorated line up in Spring 2011, Final Cut have added some modern classics to their set list incorporating great songs from Muse, Green Day, Kings of Leon and The White Stripes. Creatively they have also added one or two of their own songs which they hope will please their fans. With such an enjoyable and varied set list, performed with obvious passion and enthusiasm, Final Cut are looking forward to entertaining their audiences with memorable evenings of energetic Rock! Come and enjoy the show!!
Biography
"Mick Ridley:
Mick got into the music industry at the ripe old age of 15. While resident in South Africa, he joined a local function band as a rhythm guitarist. After joining a rival band, a year later, he was forced to sing at a gig, when the Lead guitarist/ Vocalist, came down with laryngitis. After that, he WAS the vocalist. When he returned to the UK, he discovered Rock and Blues, and has remained true to this genre ever since, playing in multitude of rock bands, across the South East. After moving to the Midlands in 2008, he tried to get a band together, but after numerous attempts, was about to give up, when an advert on a musicians website caught his eye. The rest, as they say, is history. One of his band reviews, described his voice thus, “it sounds like he gargles with broken glass before breakfast”.
Mick says: I’m really glad that I answered that ad. Me and the guys have gelled well as people, and musically. 2012 is gonna be a good year for Final Cut!

Simon:
A recent resident to Nottingham, Simon has moved here from Manchester and after initially starting a band up which didn't stay together long he eventually found Final Cut! He is a relatively new bass player after progressing from playing keyboards, but after only 3 years knows many of the Classic Rock tracks and writes his own songs and riffs too. His influences are Iron Maiden, Cinderella, WASP, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, G N R, Muse - mainly 80's rock a bit of modern stuff thrown in. With his ability to play keyboards we are hoping it will add a new dimension to some of our songs and who knows, we may even start to bash out a few originals as well!
Simon says..." I'm really chuffed to have joined Final Cut and to be playing with Sandy, Jim a! nd Wayne as they are great bunch of lads, very relaxed and straight forward and no egos anywhere in sight!! After looking for months I finally discovered their ad and joined as soon as I met Sandy and Jim. With new enthusiasm for my music and the potential to play both keyboards and bass and even introduce some of my own material, I am really looking forward to a Rocking future with Final Cut! Cheers guys :)"

Sandy:
Along with Big Jim Ingleby, Sandy is a founder member of Final Cut! Formed in 2009 after a long beer session. Sandy moved to Derby in 1991 from his native Scotland where in the 1980s he played drums in local rock bands. After a few
years and miles on the road, he decided to put down his sticks. In the 1990s now living in Derby Sandy found himself on the other side of the stage as a Sound and Light Tech having a successful career working with various artists all over the UK and Europe.
Sandy says….
I am really looking forward to getting out on the road, we are all raring to go!
Here's to a rocking future with these top blokes and raising the roof with some classic rock tracks and a few surprises of our own!

Wayne:
Originally from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Wayne is now a resident of Wirksworth, Derbyshire. He has recently joined Final Cut after being in a few other rock bands. He has been playing the guitar since he was a kid and lists his influences as Ace Frehley, Dave Gilmour, mixed with a bit of punk! He loves Les Paul guitars and Marshall amplification.
Wayne says...... "Being the last to join the band, the guys have made me feel really welcome and at home. Being the only guitarist in the band is a new experience and a real challenge for me.....bring it on!! Can't wait to start gigging and recording!"

Guy:

Joining the band as second Guitarist and Wayne’s “wingman”, Guy has been playing and gigging for over 20 years in local bands. A recent addition to Final Cut, he adds a healthy does of rock attitude and noise to proceedings as well a! s a smile emanating from his incessant chirpy attitude and comical tee-shirts. Whilst he is confident his playing will fit well with the band, he is concerned that his devilishly handsome good looks could upset the members of the band in the female stakes. This is something that they will have to learn to live with….

Musical interests are quite diverse, from Goth to electronic pop and even the Mama’s and Papa’s, although his real love is heavy rock - Ozzy Osbourne and Extreme are real favourites. Having said that, no one rocks like Karen Carpenter!

Guy is not afraid to tackle backing vocals, although harmonisation is a bit lost on him. He has in the past been know to sing a full song on his own, which did wonders for clearing the pub after last orders were called, so its unlikely Parklife will be a part of Final Cut’s set!

Upon joining Final Cut, he said “Final-Cut have a great line up and I think we can make something interesting, fun and hopefully a bit special! I’m looking forward to help create a band that has a having fun with the band and anyone who comes to see us without taking myself too seriously. It’s about making good music but having fun with a bunch of mates, including the audience”.

An equipment freak, he is constantly changing his set up, always looking for the best gadget.

Oh, and watch out for the guitar with lights on.."
