George Simpson

Some Details...

George Simpson is a fantastic singer and guitarist based in Melton Mowbray who plays a wide range of music from classic pop rom 60s, 70s and 80s through to current charts hits by the likes of Paulo Nuttini, Daniel Merriweather and James Morrison.

George Simpson (26) joined his first band at 16 “ Adonis’ in his home town of Melton Mowbray. Adonis was formed specifically to enter a local battle of the bands competition where the bands had to have at least one original tune in there set.

This was George’s first taste in writing music…..however due to education. travelling and other life events, Adonis disbanded after the battle of the bands and it was 6 years later before George gave music another try.

During the 6 year break George developed his piano and guitar skills but never really worked on his own material.

At 22 he more or less fell into his next band ‘Shine’, a reputable covers band, again from Melton Mowbray. George’s potential was recognised at a friends wedding where Shine were playing and let members of the audience come up and play! This was the platform for where George is today.

6 weeks later Shine asked George whether he wanted to fill the lead role in the band. Month by month George went from strength to strength and within two years George became well known around the Melton and Rutland area for his front-man-ship and powerful vocals. George and Shine are still going strong even today.

In 2006 George 23, was approached by 4 budding musicians who were looking for a singer and potential songwriter with a view to writing their own material. George was ready for a new challenge and took the opportunity up. Lux Mundi (5 piece indie progressive, rock pop band) were formed a year before George joined and there was an array of material already laid down for George to put his own lyrics and vocal melodies down.

At the same time George was becoming more competent as a solo artist and in 2007 George began performing in pubs/bars as a solo acoustic artist purely to create more opportunities to go out and gig! George’s solo set is based around solo artist material and very pop influenced.

This inspired George to create and develop his own material with many of his songs being developed on the piano as well as the guitar. A select few of George’s songs are developed by Lux Mundi who are looking to hit the UK in 2010

George is now concentrating on writing and producing new material for his solo career as well as Lux Mundi as well as thoroughly enjoying playing in bars and at functions with Shine and Solo gigs throughout Rutland and Leicestershire with DG Music.
