‘Stop Press’...New ‘Jazz Club’ opens in Nottingham suburb!

A music friendly Landlord in the Nottingham area has agreed to let two newcomers to the Jazz promotion business have the use of a splendid upstairs room in ‘The Commercial Inn’, 19 Wollaton Road, Beeston, Nottingham. NG9 2NG.

The joint promoters of this brave new venture, ‘JazzClub’, are Chris Moore, (ex. presenter BBC East Midlands Radio ‘Jazz Incorporated’) and the hugely experienced drummer, Ian Beestin. Ian is a key member of ‘BoHoP’ one of the finest Modern Jazz rhythm sections in the Midlands. The Trio will provide a superb platform for the gifted soloists we’ve booked for the six initial meetings of ‘JazzClub’. Geoff Pearson is the bass player with the trio and on keyboards Neil Hunter, all three of these fine musicians are in constant demand on the Festival, recording and gig front.
‘JazzClub’ gigs will be on the first Friday evening of the month beginning on May 4th 2012. Each night will feature a guest soloist backed by the clubs resident trio ‘BoHoP’, and on the opening night we’re presenting that giant of the jazz saxophone...............Tony Kofi!

Tony has featured the alto, baritone, tenor and soprano saxophone in his various quartets and projects. And from his definitive readings of Thelonious Monks music, to confirmation of his world class status as a member of ‘The World Saxophone Quartet’, Tony Kofi has proved himself both as a stunning soloist and composer. Needless to say we are all ‘over the moon’ that one of the world’s premier Jazz soloists has agreed to be the guest on the opening night of ‘JazzClub’ and the trio ‘BoHoP’ are looking forward to a challenging and enjoyable evening backing one of the nice guys in Jazz, Tony Kofi.
