About Julie Cotton Foundation
The Julie Cotton Foundation charity event for 2009 looks set to rival last year's phenomenal 'Concert For Liam' which has seen an extrordinary amount of money raised for Leukaemia Research and more is still coming in. Once again, thank you to everyone that did, and still continues, to support it.
This year the event is named the 'Concert For Life' and the foundation will be supporting 'Billy's Appeal' to build a Home From Home through CLIC Sargent, a charity that helps families whose children have cancer. We saw last year that Leukaemia and childhood cancer is something that a very many people feel strongly about. By supporting this appeal it will mean that more families have access to a specialist caring and supportive environment during this devastating time.
Last year saw 10 bands performing on Rock City's main stage, this year we've been even more ambitious and will be putting on 12. Those bands are:
Confetti Battle of the Bands Winner
Pistola Kicks
Resistance 77
Silent Film Project
Basketcase
Against Spoken Words
The Joe Strange Band
The Phonics
And the headlining acts will be:
Blaze of Glory
Sam Beeton
The Modfathers
Baggy Trousers
The Julie Cotton Foundation was set up to raise money initially for Cancer charities but since then has expanded to include other emminently worthy causes locally, nationally and internationally. The foundation used much of the money we raised a couple of years ago to help to rebuild a village in Sri Lanka that was destroyed in the tsunami.
The foundation utilises members from all walks of life who are willing to perform a challenge, set up a fundraising event and more especially work with musicians to put on a live music event where the audience contribute through the price of their ticket and are not asked for more than that. Past events at both Rock City and the Rescue Rooms have been amazingly successful and we thank the bands that have been involved and more especially the audiences who have come to support the bands and the charity. Without you all, we could not have raised the money we have done. We also hope that we have provided (and will continue to provide) excellent entertainment in a great cause.
As more events are organised we will let you know what is happening, when and where the money is to go. In this way we hope that you will feel that you know for sure where your money is going and that it is not getting absorbed into administration.
We would also like to give a special mention to the members of the emergency services who have taken alot of time over the last three years to put on fund raising events (some extra-ordinary challenges as well) all in aid of the foundation and its' works. MyGen Profile Generator
