About KILL MAKARA
Greg met Nol a while ago in the highlands of Carlton, Nottingham. They quickly became friends and discovered a shared love of many things including snickers bars, fine art, and rock‘n’roll. Together with Duncan on bass they formed the mighty Nova Embers. The Nova’s quickly established themselves as Carlton’s premier power trio – and they rocked out! But Dunc moved to leeds, and for a while it seemed that the dream was over. Then Greg happened upon a magic tree through which other musicians could be reached. He and Nol sent out a call for help to get their mighty rock’n’roll steam train back on track... Jason Brocklebank was sitting at home practising his shredding when suddenly his room was filled with a magnificent light – most likely caused by him switching on his mac book . He opened his browser and the magic tree appeared before his eyes and said – “Feminist Goth band seek male guitarist who is happy to perform in a gimp suit and take a beating on stage” - Jason shuddered, filled with fear he rushed to banish the tree from his sight but as he did he caught sight of something else – “RIGHTEOUS ROCK COMMANDOS NEED YOUR HELP TO LIBERATE THE MASSES FROM THEMSELVES THROUGH THE POWER OF MUSIC” Jason thought this was a bit corny but sounded pretty cool so he sent a message - via the tree - back to Greg and Nol to say ‘F*CK YEAH!’. Yet the tree was more powerful still, and put Jason in touch with Liam, a bassist from a far-away place called ‘Scotland.’ The four men met in a grimy dungeon off Mansfield road and started to jam and it seemed to be going OK. However, due to some dubious wiring carried out by the dungeon owners’ mate, half way through the jam there was a tremendous explosion that brought the dungeon crashing down, destroying everything inside. Amazingly the four emerged unscathed, and so decided that they should give it a go. KILL MAKARA WAS BORN! A potent mix of social poetry delivered through capillaries of angst, backed up by screaming guitars and biting bass lines, blasted out in communal harmony, anchored by collosal drum beats. We play whenever and wherever we can, spreading the gospel of Makara, so watch out suckas - KM ARE COMING FOR YOU!
