Some Details...
British soul sensation Monique has announced her debut UK tour for June/ July 2013.
Monique’s soulful tone is easy to detect, but not easily forgotten. Her new music has an edgy soul vibe with a contemporary R’n’B influence.
“I feel the tour has come at a great time for me to share my new material and develop my live performance as an artist,” she says.
Monique’s debut album, 2011’s Unbroken, raised her profile within the underground soul music scene. The single Daughter Shine gained significant UK radio airplay, while releases with producer/DJ Punk Ninja led to Top 10 Australian Club Chart success and the release of Colourful on Universal Records’ dance label, Central Station - complete with remixes by Punk Ninja and Gregori Klosman (Avicii, David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Bob Sinclar, Eric Morillo).
Her forthcoming live shows will see the singer-songwriter perform tracks from Unbroken as well as choice material from her much anticipated second album, Full Circle.
“I chose the name Full Circle for the tour and album because this project is about returning back to love. My forthcoming album explores love in different contexts,” she says. The album will be preceded by the release of the title track in September (via Carte Blanche Records).
Born and raised in Birmingham, Monique’s rich, soulful tones have seen her compared to such artists as Mary J Blige, India Arie, Tracy Chapman, Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill. Since making her professional recording studio debut at 15, she’s gone on perform alongside visiting US soul acts Avery Sunshine, Eric Benet and Dwele, while Unbroken was produced by 5am’s Tony Bean (Lemar, Beverley Knight, Nu Life, Usher and Kelly Rowland).
