Some Details...
The Omega Jazz band was first formed in early 1977 and took up residency at The Bell in September 1978. It has from conception been a seven-piece band. Over the years, the personnel (with the exception of guitar and trombone) have changed several times, giving the present band a wide spectrum of styles, from New Orleans, through Dixieland, to Mainstream. Of special interest to the group are the works of Armstrong, Basie and Ellington, and a wide selection of well known ballads. The Omega Jazz Band is lively and competent and a favourite with both students and older generations, and has a regular following. Definitely a band not to be missed.
