ROB DEERING’S CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
In November and December Rob Deering – Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford (ITV1), Sing If You Can (ITV1), Celebrity Total Wipeout (BBC One) – tours his brand new Christmas show.
What do you want out of Christmas? Or do you simply want out of Christmas? Deering brings his inimitable blend of stand-up and music to bear on the subject of the season. A comedy gig, a mixtape, a party; RDXS – Rob Deering's Christmas Special is all of the above and more. It’s got everything.
Except Christianity, obviously – you’ll have to go to church for that.
RDXS is about the classics, not the carols – Slade, Wham, The Pogues, and of course East 17. It’s not about the Christ, it’s about the Daddy – Father Christmas, who may even make a personal appearance. This show is for grown-ups, mind, so no-one will be sitting on his knee unless expressly invited.
Cracker jokes, crap presents, classic movies – turkey, potatoes, gravy, sprouts – booze, simmering familial tension, anger and hate. It’s all here; what does it all mean to you? Most importantly, what's the best Christmas pop song of all? And why hasn't someone written a new one since the eighties?
When Rob toured his last show – The Rob Deering Experience – in 2010, the result was an evening that no one who was there will ever forget - in a good way. If you were there, you'll remember the fun, the laughter, and the partial nudity, and you'll love this brand new show. If you weren't there, what were you thinking?
