Some Details...

Another coup for The Guitar Bar, with the presence of Adam Scriven on Friday 21st August and Three Tall Pines on Tuesday 25th August

These two very different sounds, separated by over 15,000 kilometres of ocean, provide an insight into the diversity of the music scene in Australia and the USA and the subcultures therein; and performances in relatively small venues across the UK, make it all the better to experience!

Adam Scriven is originally from South West of England and it wasn't until the age of twenty-one whilst travelling in Australia that his musical journey began playing Djembe, a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum by camp fire light. Itchy feet has kept Adam moving with years spent in Europe, Africa and Australia exploring the diverse cultures, tastes and sounds. Moving to the Sunshine coast of Australia in 2009, Adam has been kept busy playing shows all over the East Coast, touring throughout Europe and winning over audiences at every turn.

Incorporating intricate finger picking, virtuoso and percussive guitar techniques, yidaki (didgeridoo), harmonica, a foot stomp and conscious lyrics, Adam's passion for music is clear and infectious! You can check out Adam doing his stuff at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJWeJtngxJM

Don’t be fooled by the name, Three Tall Pines is an award winning quartet, playing Bluegrass and Americana from the heart of New England. Impressive instrumentalists in their own right, they transcend their diverse musical backgrounds to achieve soulful harmonies and sensitive performances that draw audiences in and leave plenty of space for the story to shine through. Named Bluegrass Band of the Year (2011) by Motif Arts Magazine and winning the Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival band competition, secured them a slot on the main stage in 2012.

Their debut album ‘Short While Ago,’ brought critical acclaim and widespread exposure for Joe Lurgio - Mandolin and Vocals, Dan Bourdeau - Guitar and Vocals, Gian Pangaro - Bass and Vocals and Conor Smith - Violin and Vocals. Nottingham’s most intimate live music venue hosts a truly inspiring mix of local, national and international talent and the 21st and 25th August are two more very special nights in The Guitar Bar’s calendar!
