The latest casualty of TV's talent show The X-Factor says she was a victim of the judges in-fighting.
Verity Keays, a 50-year-old private singing coach from Grimsby, became the second person to be voted off the show, leaving seven finalists to battle it out.
Her version of Bette Midler's Wind Beneath My Wings failed to impress the public and she found herself ranked in the bottom two acts.
She then had to sing again in a bid to convince judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne that she should stay instead of Nottingham duo Two To Go - made up of Peter Jones, 24, and Emma Paine, 23.
Each of the judges was given three acts to produce and manage and Verity was under Simon's care.
He voted for her, Louis voted for his group Two To Go and so it was down to the wife of rocker Ozzy Osborne to cast the crucial vote.
Sharon - whose protégé Roberta was ejected by Simon last week - sent her packing.
Verity said: "I think Sharon was trying to get back at Simon. I sang really well and she does like me so, it didn't make sense.
"But at the end, I just expected Sharon to vote me off because of the rivalry between the judges."
The singer said she would be talking to Simon over the next few days about potential record deals.
