Briggitte De Meyer Band at The MazeDate: Tue 10th Mar Time: 19:30 Cosmic American Presents.....BRIGITTE De MEYER BAND Tuesday 10th March 2009 7.30pm / £10 adv Band featuring ; AL PERKINS (Gram Parsons / Emmylou Harris), BRADY BLADE (Spyboy / Emmylou Harris) and CHRIS DONAHUE (Emmylou Harris) Brigitte DeMeyer's career has been on the upswing since the success of her debut, Another Thousand Miles, released in 2001. Her second album, Nothing Comes Free, was released to widespread critical acclaim, earning DeMeyer national airplay and a slot opening for Bob Dylan at the KBCO World Class Rock fest in Winter Park, Colorado. On her third effort, Something After All, working with producer and drummer Brady Blade of Emmylou Harris' Spyboy Band, DeMeyer's singing and songwriting take another quantum leap with a collection of strong originals and carefully chosen covers. DeMeyer and Blade assembled an impressive cast of musicians for Something After All, including Steve Earle on harmonica; Daniel Lanois on pedal steel and electric guitar; Buddy Miller on guitar and backing vocals; Rolling Stones band members Darryl Jones on bass. DeMeyer and Blade created a vibe during the recording process that helped make every song on Something After All stand out by combining their arrangement skills, and by bringing in players who had a good feel for the mood they were trying to create. Currently, DeMeyer has just completed her fourth CD, Red River Flower, scheduled for an early 2009 release. Recorded in Nashville and again produced by drummer Brady Blade, DeMeyers songwriting and vocal talents have attracted veterans Buddy Miller on backing vocals and guitar and Al Perkins on pedal steel, lap steel and dobro, Chris Donohue on upright and electric bass, Blade himself on drums, and more. Southern made to be sure, Red River Flower, gives the folk of today a new guise with DeMeyers inspiring lyrics laden with Southern groove and continues to demonstrate DeMeyer's growth and confidence as both a writer and performer. Its insightful songwriting and DeMeyer's dramatic vocal performances are sure to make it stand out in this year's musical landscape.
