Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin at Southwell LibraryDate: Thur 8th Sep Time: 19:30 Rural Roots, music promotions Following their recent stunning performances at this year’s Gate to Southwell Folk Festival we have booked a swift return for two of the highlight acts Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson Looking like an earthy, rootsy version of White Stripes, Hat Fitz and Cara wowed the audience with their blend of pre war hill country and delta blues early Australian folk and traditional Celtic styles performed on dobro, drums and flute accompanying two amazing voices. Hat Fitz (real name Hatrick Fitzpatrick) is a larger than life character and a real live Crocodile Dundee. After falling asleep near the campfire in the Australian outback, he awoke to find himself being dragged along to the water by one of the beasts. Following a 500 mile trip to the nearest hospital his leg was saved but it was two years before he could walk properly. He cheerfully acknowledges his good fortune that it was only a 12 footer, they can grow to 20 feet long! He has also been known to race lawnmowers and was Queensland champion in this unusual sport, till he came off and you’ve guessed it, broke his other leg. He met Cara whilst touring in Ireland and with her talents on percussion and flute added to Hat Fitz’s impressive guitar playing they had a winning combination and a dynamic live show http://hatfitz.net/index.htm with Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin Phillip Henry is a figurehead for the next generation of English slide guitarists , considered by many to be one of the finest slide guitarists this country has ever produced, bringing together folk melodies of the British isles, blues, gospel and Indian music in his moving and original compositions and arrangements. He is also making a name for himself as a harmonica player, arranging tunes and songs in his own unique style that incorporates blues, traditional melodies and human beatbox. Hannah Martin is a singer, songwriter, banjo-and-fiddle player from Devon. Having been brought up attending folk clubs and sessions, she developed a keen interest in traditional music, and her songs weave folklore and legend old and new with beautiful melodies and innovative arrangements, while retaining a strong sense of the living tradition. They recently toured with Show Of Hands and played on Steve Knightley's "Live In Somerset" album http://www.philliphenryandhannahmartin.co.uk/ Venue: Southwell Library Date: Thursday 8th Sept Time: 8pm (Doors 7.30pm) Tickets: £11 (Adv.) £13 (Door) Buy tickets online via paypal at www.ruralrootsmusic.co.uk Or from the Minster Shop Southwell (credit card/telephone) 01636 812933 Or from Southwell Library Southwell LibraryKing StreetSouthwell Nottingham NG25 0EH (more) Would you like to see more information about Southwell Library?
