The Gilded Merkin provides new East Midlands home for burlesque & cabaret

Nottingham is set to become the home of burlesque in the East Midlands with the launch of the largest and most extravagant variety show the City has ever seen.

The Gilded Merkin debuts at Glee Club Nottingham on Sunday 08 July featuring a line-up bursting at the sequinned seams with the very best acts from the international burlesque and cabaret scene.

Knife-throwing illusionist Anna Fur Laxis - widely acclaimed as one of the finest burlesque performers in the world - heads up an all-star cast sure to get pulses racing.

This ambitious project is the brainchild of local burlesque performer Scarlett Daggers, who already co-hosts the Nottingham branch of popular worldwide creative phenomenon Dr Sketchy's Anti Art School.

Scarlett said: "The Gilded Merkin is my dream show realised. A big budget extravaganza with acts hand-picked from the cream of the cabaret crop. You can expect glamour, comedy, music and much more. This is definitely not to be missed."

The full line-up on Sunday 08 July features the queen of dark-asm Mysti Vine, Martini Lounge founder Millie Dollar, jazz/soul songbird Coco Malone, neo-burlesque pocket rocket Velma Von Bon Bon, and compere extraordinaire Fred Bear.

Glee Club promoter Duncan Burns said: "We've worked with Scarlett since we opened so we're hugely excited about her new production.
