STRICTLY COME DANCING GOES LIVE!

AS THE GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT PHENOMENON TAKES TO THE ROAD FOR A LIVE ARENA TOUR

STARRING CELEBRITY CONTESTANTS

ZOE BALL, LETITIA DEAN, DENISE LEWIS & LOUISA LYTTON, MATT DI ANGELO, DARREN GOUGH & CHRISTOPHER PARKER

ACROSS THE UK IN JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2008

Audiences across the country will soon get the chance to join celebrities, dance champions and those all important judges for the arena extravaganza STRICTLY COME DANCING LIVE!

STRICTLY COME DANCING LIVE! will see eight well-known faces from the worlds of entertainment and sport pack up their gowns and dance shoes as they once again turn celebrity dance contestants, competing for the votes of the thousands in the arena audiences. The female artists taking part in this dance spectacular are Zoe Ball, Letitia Dean, Denise Lewis and Louisa Lytton. The male stars will be announced soon as well as the special guest presenter.

STRICTLY COME DANCING LIVE! will open at the SECC in Glasgow on 18 January before playing the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, London’s Wembley Arena, Nottingham Arena, the MEN Arena in Manchester, Sheffield Arena and Birmingham, where it finishes at the NEC Arena on 16 February 2008.

Featuring all of the audience’s favourite elements from the hit television series, STRICTLY COME DANCING LIVE! will pit our celebrity dancers and their partners against judges Len Goodman, Arlene Philips and Craig Revel Horwood. Remaining faithful to the much-loved BBC show, the judges will deliver their analysis with their famous wit and wisdom.

Warming up for their first showdowns on the ballroom floors of some of the UK’s major arenas are television and radio presenter Zoe Ball (Series 3, 3rd place), Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis (Series 2, runner up), ex-EastEnder and The Bill actress Louisa Lytton (Series 4, 4th place) and Albert Square legend Letitia Dean, who takes part in the current fifth series. The celebrities will be paired up with series regulars including Darren Bennett, Flavia Cacace, Matthew Cutler, Nicole Cutler, Camilla Dallerup, Lilia Kopylova, Vincent Simone and Ian Waite, who are amongst the world's leading professional dancers.

Talking about her upcoming performance on the tour, Zoe Ball said:

“I cannot wait to get out on the road in the New Year. I had a blast doing the TV show and now I’ll be doing it all over again, wearing more of those amazing dresses, face to face with audiences of thousands of people at each show!”

Denise Lewis added:

“I’m really looking forward to dancing again and I’m hoping all the Strictly fans will come out and support us on tour because there’ll be some fantastic dancing and it will be a great night out.”

Louisa Lytton said:

“I absolutely loved taking part in Strictly Come Dancing and jumped at the chance to take part in the live show, and thanks to my bosses at The Bill I’ve got the chance to get back out there and this time, fingers crossed, win it for the girls!”

Talking about his upcoming performance on the tour, Darren Gough said:

“Before Strictly Come Dancing the thought of doing the Tango or the Waltz brought me out in a cold sweat, the only dancing I had ever done was the caterpillar dance when I was messing about with the lads so for me to agree to Strictly and dance in front of millions live on national TV was a real challenge, the last thing I thought was that I would end up winning the whole thing! People keep asking me if I still dance and I wish I could say that I do but as Captain of Yorkshire County Cricket Club I have not had the opportunity but this new Strictly tour gives me the chance to get back into the tight outfits and slap on the sequins – I am really looking forward to it!”

Matt Di Angelo said:

“I am having such an amazing time on the series at the moment and dancing with Flavia is something else. To be offered the opportunity to still be dancing next year is one I jumped at. Hopefully the public will keep me in SCD Five, so I can make sure I give all the other dancers a run for their money.”

Christopher Parker said:

“I thought the judges choice comments had put me off dancing for life! Reaching the final of the first series was definitely a big personal achievement for me and, despite being a bit nervous, I am very much looking forward to digging out those shoes from the back of the cupboard and having some fun in those arenas around the country. I haven't danced since the show; some people might say I didn't dance in the show! So it’s going to be quite a challenge! I have been splitting my time between working in America and the UK but jumped at the chance to take part in the show.”

Strictly Come Dancing has run on BBC One since 2004. A fourth series finished in December 2006 attracting an audience of over 12 million viewers, making it one of the highest rating shows of the year. The television format, also known as Dancing With The Stars, has been successful around the world broadcasting in 25 countries, from Australia to the Ukraine, and in America where the current series is a ratings sensation for ABC. It is licensed for forthcoming productions to another five countries, including Argentina and Equador.

DUE TO HUGE public demand, eight extra shows have today been put on sale for the first ever arena tour of Strictly Come Dancing Live. Hosted by TV presenter, Kate Thornton, celebrity dancers Zoe Ball, Letitia Dean, Matt Di Angelo, Darren Gough, Denise Lewis, Louisa Lytton and Christopher Parker will now play extra dates at Wembley Arena (Sunday 27 Jan at 13.30 and 18.30 now on sale), Manchester Evening News Arena (Sunday 3 Feb at 13.30 and 18.30 now on sale), Sheffield Arena (Sunday 10 Feb at 13.30 and 18.30 now on sale) and The NEC Arena Birmingham (Sunday 17 Feb at 13.30 and 18.30 now on sale).
