The Pond at The Glee ClubDate: Wed 17th Oct Time: 19:30 Newcastle-based Kathryn Williams released her first album Dog Leap Stairs on her own label Caw in 1999 on a budget of just £80. Her second record Little Black Numbers was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2000, losing out to Badly Drawn Boy. Kathryn has collaborated and appeared on records by John Martyn, Bombay Bicycle Club, Marry Waterson and Neill Macoll, with whom she released the album Two. She has played live with KT Tunstall, Ray Lamontagne and Martha Wainwright. New project The Pond are Kathryn,Simon Edwards (bass legend who has played with Billy Bragg, Beth Gibbons and as a founding member of Fairground Attraction) and Ginny Clee (The Dear Janes, and she toured America with Robyn Hitchcock). The three of them wrote and recorded their debut self titled album together, then got Adrian Utley to sprinkle some magic dust over it.
