Sean Hughes at The Glee ClubDate: Thur 1st Nov Time: 19:30 Bound and Gagged Comedy Presents Sean Hughes Life Becomes Noises Fresh from performing two critically acclaimed shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Award-winning comedian, Sean Hughes, is set to embark on a 34 date national tour beginning 2nd October 2012. From the moment the lights come up on Life Becomes Noises, revealing a hospital bed and Sean dressed in a slightly inappropriate costume, it is apparent that this is going to be no ordinary comedy show. It has been over a year since his father died, and Sean is dealing with his death in a way that only Sean can. Here is a comedy performance from Sean like you’ve never seen before, resulting in the feelgood show of the year. This hilarious yet poignant tale is a beautiful insight into the lighter side of dying and getting older, going to places that comedy rarely goes, highlighting how ridiculous life is and how quickly it can be taken away. The legendary Sean Hughes has performed all over the world and, as well as being the youngest ever winner of the coveted Perrier Award, he has also won a Fringe First for his short plays, ‘Dehydrated’ and ‘Travellin’ Light’. Despite a prolonged absence from the comedy arena, he was recently voted No. 40 in Channel 4′s ‘World’s 100 Greatest Comedians’ poll. The multi-talented Sean has many TV and radio credits to his name including writing and starring in the cult favourite ‘Sean’s Show’ (Channel 4), and a long stint as team captain on ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ (BBC2). As an actor he has had numerous starring roles in TV shows such as The Last Detective (ITV1) and Coronation Street (ITV1), appeared in Alan Parker’s film The Commitments, starred in the film adaptation of Spike Milligan’s Puckoon and performed on the West End stage in As You Like It with Sienna Miller. He has also hosted his own show on BBC 6 Music. Sean has written two collections of prose and poetry including, ‘Sean’s Book’. He also wrote two critically acclaimed best-selling novels ‘The Detainees’ and ‘It’s What He Would Have Wanted’. Although he is well known for his various TV appearances, it is on the stage that Sean is most at home. ‘High calibre comedy as it should be’ Evening Standard ‘Hugely impressive and intelligent’ Time Out ‘One of the best stand-ups of his generation’ Daily Telegraph Follow Sean on twitter: @mr_seanhughes The Glee ClubBritish Waterways Building,Castle Wharf, Canal Street, Nottingham NG1 7EH (more) Would you like to see more information about The Glee Club?
