This might have been the end of the story, had they not been spotted by Mitch Murray & Peter Callender - a songwriting team with many hits to their credit. March 1974 saw their first release “Billy - Don‘t Be A Hero“ at the top of the UK charts [also worldwide]. The follow up “The Night Chicago Died” narrowly missed No 1 in the U.K. but hit no 1 in U.S.A & Canada [outselling all other singles that year!]. More hits & a Royal Command performance at the London Palladium before the Queen Mother followed. With over 70 years [combined service] as Paper Lace, the boys still live in Nottingham & continue to excite crowds with their stunning harmonies & showmanship.
