Nottingham Splendour Festival at Wollaton ParkDate: Sat 19th Jul Time: 12:00 Splendour Festival Confirmed for Wollaton Park Promoter DHP Family and Nottingham City Council have confirmed that the hugely popular ‘Splendour’ Festival will return to Wollaton Park on Saturday, 19 July 2014 after last year’s barnstorming headline set by local hero, Jake Bugg. Headline acts and other artists for three music stages will be announced in the next few weeks with the likes of Dizee Rascal, Blondie, Scissor Sisters, and the Pet Shop Boys having pulled in up to 20,000 music lovers in previous years. Alternative entertainments will be on offer at the comedy stage, children’s fun fair, or amongst the dozens of market stalls set in the beautiful surroundings of Wollaton Park. The search for the stars of tomorrow will take place in the run up to the festival with NUSIC running its annual Future Sound of Nottingham competition. The finalists will battle it out in a showdown at Rock City to win the opening slot on the Splendour main stage. Splendour is the second festival to be announced for Wollaton Park this year. Aimed at all ages it will be complemented by a new festival called ‘No Tomorrow’, an 18-plus event from the same organisers. Taking place on Saturday 7 June, No Tomorrow will celebrate the end of University term and the start of the summer and will feature the best contemporary artists such as headline act London Grammar. Councillor David Trimble, Dunkirk and Lenton Ward Councillor and Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said: “It’s great news that our popular family festival Splendour has been confirmed and it will no doubt be bigger and better than ever before. We’re also delighted to add the No Tomorrow event to the thriving Nottingham music scene. The new festival will appeal to young people and our large student population and provide people yet another reason to visit our city.
