Eddie Floyd at Newark Palace TheatreDate: Tue 4th Mar Time: 19:30 Starring Eddie Floyd, Geno Washington and Pauline Black Singer/songwriter Eddie Floyd is known for his 1966 hit ‘Knock on Wood’, which he co-wrote with Steve Cropper, and other songs from the Memphis Soul Music era at Stax Records. When Geno Washington took to the stage in the 60s with The Ram Jam Band, he brought the house down with some of the grooviest vibes ever to grace the hip and happening joints where the cool people hung out. And Pauline Black enjoyed a string of hits in the early 80s as lead singer with 2-Tone group The Selecter before diversifying into a successful career encompassing theatre, TV and film acting, TV and radio presenting and writing. Now Geno - the man with two of the biggest selling UK albums of the 60s - joins forces with Eddie, pioneering legend of the Stax sound, in this celebration of 50 years of soul music, opened and compered by Pauline, the acclaimed ‘Queen of Ska’.
