SUZI RUFFELL: Keeping It Classy
UK Tour 2018

‘A Stand Up Gem’ The Guardian

Nominated Chortle Best Breakthrough Act 2017

Following a highly critically acclaimed, total sellout run at the Edinburgh Festival, Suzi Ruffell takes her show Keeping It Classy to venues up and down the UK in 2018.

Suzi Ruffell is trying her best to keep it classy. It's tricky to accept a birthday present from someone who’s voting record has potentially ruined your future but sometimes you have to enjoy the body lotion and ignore the politics. She has changed a lot since leaving her working class life in Portsmouth.

It has become increasingly hard for Suzi to juggle her love for a Wetherspoons breakfast and boxed wine with her yoga practising, failing vegetarian new life. Whichever way she tries she’s letting someone down! Does it really matter that her cousins care more about the Kardashians than they do about the economy? Is it her job to convince them otherwise? She’s decided yes it is, ruining one family party at a time.

Suzi explores what it means to be a white, gay, working class woman who straddles both the small-minded views of the town she grew up in and the artsy, liberal London life that she chose for herself. Now more than ever, during post-Brexit and one hundred arguments with family, she provides a refreshingly different and important take on whether or not you can ever escape the class you were born into.

Suzi’s innovative style captivates audiences with her engrossing tales of social ineptitude. Lauded as ‘a real stand up gem’ by The Guardian, this young independent woman celebrates her working class roots with a sideways look at the world.

Regarded as one of the best up and coming acts, Suzi was nominated for the Best Breakthrough Act at The Chortle Awards in 2017. She is in constant demand at clubs and theatres across Britain. Fast establishing herself on the live circuit by supporting Alan Carr, Josh Widdicombe and Kevin Bridges on tour, she then went on to have a sell-out double header tour with Romesh Ranganathan in the spring of 2015. Her 2016 and 2017 runs at the Edinburgh Festival saw her sell out and receive critical acclaim, nabbing the working class comedy crown of her generation. Suzi’s television appearances include two series of Comedy Central’s ‘The Comedy Store’ and ‘Comedy Roast Battle’, Channel 4’s ‘It Was Alright in the 70s’, BBC3’s ‘Climaxed’ and ‘Ed Fest Live’, and E4’s ‘Virtually Famous’. Suzi is also a regular on Radio 4, including ‘News Quiz’ and ‘The Now Show’.

Suzi co-hosts the hit podcast ‘Like Minded Friends’ with fellow comedian Tom Allen. She is also a talented actor and writer, with one of her sitcoms being nominated for a BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Award. She has also written additional material for TV shows such as The Last Leg, Mock The Week and 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
