TOP US BLUES PLAYERS HEAD TO NOTTINGHAM FOR THEIR ONLY UK SHOW

TWO world-renowned blues musicians from America will be playing their only UK show of the year in Nottingham at the end of this month.

John Miller (guitar and vocals) and Grant Dermody (harmonica and vocals) will be performing at the Bonington Theatre, High Street, Arnold, on Saturday, July 28.

The duo, from Washington state, are crossing the Atlantic to teach harmonica and guitar at the popular Blues Week event in Gloucester which starts the day after the Arnold concert.

John Miller is a fingerpicking guitarist known throughout the world and is one of the top teachers of country blues guitar.

In addition to teaching at popular music camps on both sides of the Atlantic he has presented several DVD and download lessons for Stefan Grossman’s Guitar Workshop.

He was inspired to learn the guitar, after, at the age of 12, seeing blues legend Mississippi John Hurt perform at the Philadelphia Folk Festival.

Grant’s musical travels have seen him playing with many of America’s most beloved acoustic musicians. He has toured the US and Europe and recorded five albums with guitarist Eric Bibb who described Grant as ‘one of the greatest blues and roots harmonica players around’.

John and Grant have recorded two albums together (along with Orville Johnson) – Deceiving Blues and We Heard The Voice of a Porkchop - and also have recorded many other albums separately and as part of other collaborations.
