The show features the best in 40s and 50s jive, rhythm and blues and rock ’n’ roll. 15:15 – 16;30 Abdoulaye Samb and Minnjiaraby A refreshing blend of traditional Senegalese music and European influences inspired by Fula and Mandinka cultures. 17:15 – 18:30 Salseology Salseology is the perfect blend of energy and passion, bringing the very best live salsa music to the Riverside Festival. 19:15 – 20:30 Gaslight Troubadours The Gaslight Troubadours produce a hybrid cut n’ paste sound of twisted beats with electro-swing and steampunk or even “steamfunk” tendancies. 21:15 – 22:30 Niteworks Hailing from the Isle of Skye, Niteworks have achieved critical acclaim for their unique fusion of electronica and Scottish traditional music. Sunday 4 August 12:00 – 14:00 Nottingham Jazz Orchestra A musical journey through the best big bands in the world. 14:45 – 16:00 Rafiki Jazz RAFIKI (friends) JAZZ (freedom), the collective with a seriously collaborative attitude. Onstage Rafiki Jazz lead from the front, with inspirational Sufi singer Sarah Yaseen and star Hebrew and Hindi vocalist Avital Raz featured alongside ace Senegalese griot Kadialy Kouyate and Egyptian oud and ney virtuoso Mina Salama. You can already see why Rafiki Jazz are tagged #GLOBAL UTOPIANS! Add in a hot and exotic backline of Caribbean steelpans, hi-life guitar and tanpura drone with Indian tabla and Brazilian berimbau plus deep electric bass, and this amazing world music group’s cross-continental trajectory is clear. 16:45 – 18:00 Los de Abajo A dose of reggae, ska, cumbia, funk, merengue, son jarocho and even polka!
