The Clarinet Concerto No.2 is dedicated to Heinrich Baermann, soloist at the premiere in 1813. Baermann was an outstanding performer and had significant influence on the Romantic clarinet repertoire with many composers writing for him. The rest of the programme takes you on a virtual tour of Europe with the performance of pieces by Wagner, Sibelius, Berlioz, Debussy and Verdi, journeying through the Romantic era.
