This comic tale of the sea with its intrigue, love and romance is brought to life under the direction of Martin Yates with full orchestra, The Captain of the Pinafore, who claims he would never swear at his crew, does not know that his daughter has fallen in love with a common sailor. Meanwhile the Captain has arranged for her to marry The First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Joseph Porter. He himself has risen from humble beginnings to gain his office despite having never gone to sea. The Captain himself fancies a poor bum boat woman. Fear not: it all works out in the end.
