Motown Legends at Nottingham Arena

On Wednesday 24th June 2009 true superstars will be gracing the stage of Trent FM Arena Nottingham as part of the ‘Once in a Lifetime – Motown Legends Live Tour 2009’.

With an outstanding line up of artists including ‘The Commodores’, ‘Mary Wilson of The Supremes’, ‘Martha Reeves and The Vandellas’, ‘The Miracles’ and ‘JR. Walker’s All Stars’ this will be a celebration of 50 years of Motown in 2009.

The Commodores were one of the biggest selling groups of the 70’s with memorable hits such as ‘Three Times A Lady’ and ‘Sail On’. They were discovered after supporting the Jackson Five and went on to sell over 60 million records!

Mary Wilson of The Supremes was one third of the most successful female singing groups in recording history. The Supremes became one of America’s most prolific hit makers and helped to establish the distinct Motown sound. Their many hits included ‘Baby Love’, ‘Stop! In The Name Of Love’, ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’ and ‘The Happening’.

Martha Reeves, Motown’s ultimate soul diva, had many hits with The Vandellas including ‘Nowhere To Run’, ‘Dancing In The Street’ and ‘Jimmy Mac’. Martha also provided vocals on Marvin Gaye’s first three hits.

The Miracles were the first Motown group to give its label a gold record for selling a million copies. Their hits include ‘Tears Of A Clown’, ‘Love Machine’, ‘I’m The One You Need’ and ‘I Don’t Blame You At All’.

JR. Walker’s All Stars, known all over the world as the ‘Ultimate Motown Party Band’, have a portfolio of non-stop foot stomping hits including ‘Road Runner’, ‘Walk In The Night’ and ‘What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)’.
