New Year's Eve wouldn't be the same without sinfonia VIVA, and this year is an extra special treat as The Scottish Connection whisks us away for a traditional feast of gorgeous, popular classics with a seasonal north-of-the-border flavour. There's the timeless beauty of Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture - utterly evocative of the dramatic landscape, the majestic might of wind and sea. On we go to Bruch's unforgettable, chart-topping Violin Concerto No.1 with gold-medal winning Sony BMG artist Mayuko Kamio as soloist. A cracking medley of Scottish tunes follows before we emerge into the bright energy of Maxwell Davies' An Orkney Wedding with Sunrise. And there's a whole bunch of Strauss favourites and other well-loved classics to take in along the way.
