A real ale pub in the heart of the village, with a Beer Garden, Function Room, Traditional Ciders, Continental Lagers, Real Fire and Real Character. Well behaved dogs and children are allowed.
The newly named ‘Poet & Castle’, which opened on Friday 23rd May 2008, took its name in joint commemoration for Codnor Castle & DH Lawrence.
Claire Roddy, Bar manager from the Old Poets Corner, took the position of Licensee and Pub Manager at the Poet & Castle when the pub re-opened after a spell of being closed down and boarded up.
Our trading hours are 12 noon – 11pm seven days a week, with the exception of Christmas and New Year, when our change of hours will be displayed on this web-site, our facebook group and in the pub.
